The Facts About Omega-3

If you ask folks what food group they should avoid, most will probably answer "fats." While it's true that, in large amounts, some types of fat are bad for your health (not to mention your waistline), there are some we simply can't live without.

Among them are the omega-3 fatty acids, found in foods including walnuts, some fruits and vegetables, and coldwater fish such as herring, mackerel, sturgeon, and anchovies.

"It not only plays a vital role in the health of the membrane of every cell in our body, it also helps protect us from a number of key health threats," says Laurie Tansman, MS, RD, CDN, a nutritionist at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

My testimony to God's mercy and grace

Jesus' message about the healing of 10 lepers reflects many of my own experiences of God's healing and my thankfulness to him for his mercy and grace in the last  8  months and I'd like the opportunity to share with you how God, Jesus, has  mercifully  been there for me when I needed his comfort most.

As many of you know I had a heart attack last summer that,  statistically ,  should have killed me. My odds of surviving were 50/50. I knew this statistic from previous study and I was horrified at the possible consequence of the predicament I found myself in. I was confused and upset because I had done everything right - I thought. I had  faithfully  eaten the Canadian government approved "Heart Smart" diet - I had kept thin - I never had any pains or big medical problems. I never smoked and I only had a shot of booze on birthdays. I was always careful. I had no hint this was coming and then BAM!!!

What's wrong with milk? Everything!!

Most of us grew up being told to drink our milk because it was good for you. We were all good children and did as we were told. Now, it seems, we were all duped into believing the wrong thing.

I just received an email from a friend and it had a link to site I never thought to look for www.notmilk.com

The world is full of alarmist conspiracy theories about any topic you can imagine but this one is based on irrefutable fact. Apparently this site started with the now famous "Milk Letter" http://notmilk.com/kradjian.html and grew from there. I spent a few hours scouring the site for further insite and felt compelled to share this with all of you. It could save your life.

It's never too late to become healthier

Heart disease is a killer and we all know someone who has had a heart attack or died because of a heart attack or stroke. We also know by now that it's linked to diet and exercise depending on how much or how little you get respectively. I found it interesting to note that none of my doctors or cardiologists ever suggested that it might be reversible until I challenged them on what I had read in several books from Dr. Dean Ornish and Dr. Hans Diehl. Surprisingly most of them knew of the books I was referring to and spoke highly of their authors and their clinical studies that proved without doubt that a real lifestyle change in diet and exercise could reverse the restricted flow of clogged arteries and eventually repair themselves over a number of years.

Repeated tests showed that a person with heart disease and a serious commitment to helping themselves could effectively triple their blood flow in their arteries within 2 years of adopting a diet that consisted of high fiber foods eaten as grown, devoid of refined foods such as sugar and flour and calories from fat reduced to 10% of your daily caloric intake.  Along with this diet came a requirement to get out and walk 10,000 steps a day (about 5 miles/8KMs). The results were predictable and reproduceable to the point where a number of insurance companies in the United States have actively switched to lifestyle therapy instead of surgery as the cure for lifestyle related heart disease problems.
